Review by Piers from London
cost per head=£89 inc service and a round of cocktails
Yes you're right, it's not cheap, but it is good so treat yourself for a special occasion.
The restaurant is downstairs and generally I don't like basement restaurants but the ambience was just right. However, I think most people would be more comfortable dining in this environment on a cold winter's night rather than a warm summer (or spring) one.
The waitress (Spanish) was delightful - friendly and attentive and recommended 3-4 dishes each. This is posh tapas remember so expect to share. They bring them in an order determined by the kitchen, so just each what is put in front of you and keep going until you have run out of dishes. We had:
Cold meat platter, Wind dried beef, Tuna carpaccio, Chipirones, Octopus, Clams, Mussels, Prawns, Arroz Negro, Manchego Cheese (X2). Everything was delicious. Worth a specific mention was the black rice - a small portion but incredibly rich and flavoursome, with what seemed about half a kilo of butter in it. We drank two bottles of very good Ribero Del Duero, on the expensive side at £53 per bottle. Overall this was a great experience but because of the price, not one to repeat on a regular basis. |
