Review by Mark from London
Went to The Clerkenwell on Saturday night. Didn't appear to be full but what a disaster the service was. I have not received such poor service at a restaurant in years and I certainly didn't expect it from such an expensive place.
Admittedly we were a table of 10 but we had prebooked so they knew we were coming. It took forever for our first drinks to arrive, they took a wine order and waited 30 minutes to tell us they didn't have it - then it took another 20 minutes to get the replacement.
The food took an age to arrive. The foi gras & chicken liver parfait was tasty but a pittifully small serving without even a bit of garnish. The cote de beouf was grossly over-seasoned. By the time I had finished that, I was so over the place I didn't bother to order desert or coffee. And they wanted 12.5% service.
Everyone at the table was disappointed and refused to pay the service charge. And not a word of apology from any of the staff. Just as well we had a TasteLondon card, so the food was half price - and we wonder if this is why they treated us so badly.
I thoroughly recommend you go elsewhere. For this price, you can do a lot better, such as Pattersons in Mill St, W1 - went there last week and it was supurb. |
