A great addition to the south london dining scene. The place is pleasing on the eye (bar the coat cupboard which is unfortunately on view) and grown-up (though by no means stuffy). Crisp linens, designer glassware and elegant flowers add to the buzzy atmosphere. The clientelle is surprisingly mixed - young things on first dates, small groups of 30' and 40' somethings, middleaged couples... Our coats were promptly taken at the door, we were shown to our window table and someone quickly took our drinks order - this is crucial to my full enjoyment of any meal. Shortly after, a small bowl of olives and home-made breadsticks arrived. The waiter knew the dishes inside out and made some good suggestions. The wine waitress (I don't think she was a somelier) knew the list well and helped us choose a crisp white bordeaux - very clean on the palate.
You can view a sample menu on the website. And although ambitious, it does deliver - my friend started with the razor clams with garlic and thyme. I am told they were delicious. The tuna with basil puree, guacamole and devilled whitebait - the latter, a little overkill- was fresh and made a great starter. We both followed with the rabbit saddle - I found it a little tough/dry in places but the flavour was excellent. The mint and chocolate souffle with mint ice-cream was heavenly! - light fluffy and chocolatey... If you just want a taste of something sweet, my friend recommends the cappuccino creme brulee with cookies. The bill for two with one bottle of wine, two bottles of water and coffees was about £110 including a tip. I will return very soon for sure!

The starter: We ordered the foie gras. Having lived[Read More...]

Have now been to Trinity in Clapham twice. My first visit was a grown-up lunch for six at the tail-end of the summer. On that occasion, the food was very good, but the kitchen serv[Read More...]

Ate here last night and thought that overall it's a great local but not really worth the effort if you live out of the area.
